Connecting with your Kids
Having kids is such a blessing and nothing can tear up our hearts quite the same way. Some days are hard, just plain hard. A tired, hangry, discouraged mom (who hasn’t been that sometimes?) and kids who are needy, sometimes sick, sassy and disobedient – it’s a recipe for feeling like everything is too much. I remember some of those times – the following song is old but rings true with me and I hope it will be an encouragement to you.
I have come to realize that I am designed to need what Jesus is delighted to give. It is making for an interesting dance! Also, throughout my life, I’ve been blown away to see what a Giver Jesus is.
He Giveth More Grace by Annie Johnson Flint
He giveth more grace when the burdens grow greater,
He sendeth more strength when the labors increase;
To added affliction He addeth His mercy;
To multiplied trials, His multiplied peace.
When we have exhausted our store of endurance,
When our strength has failed ere the day is half done,
When we reach the end of our hoarded resources,
Our Father’s full giving is only begun.
Fear not that thy need shall exceed His provision,
Our God ever yearns His resources to share;
Lean hard on the arm everlasting, availing;
The Father both thee and thy load will upbear.
Chorus:
His love has no limit; His grace has no measure.
His pow’r has no boundary known unto men;
For out of His infinite riches in Jesus,
He giveth, and giveth, and giveth again.
“My grace is enough; it’s all you need.
My strength comes into its own in your weakness.
Once I heard that, I was glad to let it happen. I quit focusing on the handicap and began appreciating the gift.” II Corinthians 12:9 (MSG)
So thankful for God’s grace and the many times I have needed it desperately! I read a quote that said “When you get to the end of your rope, make a knot and hang on!” Share this hymn, and its truth with a friend who is just “hanging on” today.
