Old Dog, New Tricks
I used to think it would be great to eliminate conflict from my life, trying to control or ignore it. Now I lean more towards asking God to help me manage conflict…. to do well the part that is my responsibility.
Funny how you read something in the Bible and God doubles the impact with a book you’re reading, that throws light on the subject, and gets you thinking at a deeper level.
Last week I read II Thessalonians 5: 13-15. Get along among yourselves, each of you doing your part….. be patient with each person, attentive to individual needs. And be careful that when you get on each other’s nerves you don’t snap at each other. Look for the best in each other, and always do your best to bring it out.
Then, I was reading ‘The Joy Model‘ by Jeff Spadaforaand this list jumped out at me, for being simple, and realistic. When I apply these four steps to the plethora of situations covered in the Bible verses, I believe I’m well on my way to employing some good conflict management skills in my life.
I so wish I understood more of this earlier in my life….hopefully you can teach an old dog new tricks!
