Glisten
My daughter Caroline gave me a little gold ring for Christmas and I love it! It also gave me my Word of the Year. I don’t have a theme word every year but lately I’ve been doing that A few of mine have been:

Friends
Pure
This year it’s “Glisten” because I have a goal to become a better listener. I like how the ring reminds me of that goal by what it simply does- it gLISTENs. As an extrovert, when I’m inclined to tell another story, offer an opinion, or comment, I sometimes reach down and touch this ring, that reminds me to ask a question, wait, and avoid interrupting, inquire about someone’s perspective. This little ring is helping me become a better listener and friend!
It’s been fun to look up Bible verses that go with each of the words and has truly added a lot of interest to my life. One for this year is Proverbs 18:15…..Wise men and women are always learning, always listening for fresh insights.
How many of my relationships would be strengthened and improved if I keep practicing listening?
