If your life turned out great, how would you know?
Here’s a question for you – If your life turned out great, how would you know? As a young mom, you probably don’t spend much time thinking about being 85 and looking back on your life! This can be a useful tool for you in your younger years, and wind up being a blessing in your marriage and family.
If MY life turned out great, how would I know? Let me imagine I’m 85, and I bump into another old lady that I was mom friends with, back in the day. She is delighted to see me again after many years. And she asks, “How did your life go, after those years when we were young mom friends? If I could honestly say, “It was great”, what would I have to scroll through in my mind, to come to that conclusion?
Here are some things that come to mind —-
- A thriving marriage, that grew better over time as we walked with God and He helped us learn skills along the way.
- A family that saw me being authentic, learning to handle strengths and weaknesses, in an environment where kids grew up feeling loved and encouraged.
- A life where I became more open to receiving and sharing God’s love and gifts with others.
- Becoming more generous with my time, money, and prayer.
- Having a few intimate friends, enjoying reciprocal care, admiration and acceptance.
- Stewarding well the health God gave me, paying attention to good nutrition, healthy sleep habits, exercise and positive entertainment.
- Gardening, humor and adventure would have been an integral part of my life.
