Stories and photos from MomsMentoring

Holly's story:

I have been very blessed to be a part of Linda’s MomsMentoring group! I knew very early that I had a passion for families and wanted one of my own. I always found myself dreaming of what it would be like to be a stay-at-home mom. With the help of my husband and answered prayers, I have been able to be at home with our two boys. As wonderful as it has been, I still became overwhelmed. I felt that I couldn't accomplish everything I would like and was comparing myself to others.

Linda has helped me to direct my thoughts to what it looks like to be a Christian family in today’s society, have purpose and be very intentional in how I spend this precious time with my family. Through her Bible-based teachings I have found great joy in the day to day “stuff” and I am relieved to know that each family is not only wired differently, but intentionally for God’s amazing purpose.

The knowledge I’ve gained through Linda reduces my stress level and allows me to know that God does not compare us to one another and neither should we. So when I feel like I don’t measure up, He reminds me otherwise.

Going through this series of teachings and the various scripture has strengthened my marriage and helped my family and I grow spiritually. It is wonderful to have someone to coach us along this journey of motherhood and keep our minds focused on Christ. When our minds are with Him, all else works out much easier. Linda’s passion for young marriages and families shines!

Brenda's story:

My name is Brenda. My husband Mike and I have been married for 10 years and have 4 children 4, 6 and twin 8 year olds…all boys! I am also a stepmom to Mike’s two daughter’s who are now both 22. I have a passion for sharing the word of God, offering up a listening ear, a word of encouragement or praying for you. I have been so blessed by Linda’s group MomsMentoring, I hope I can pass it along. a paragraph.

Being a mom, or in my case a stay-at-home mom, is often times a thankless job. Now, I don’t mean to make it sound like I never get thanks, but it doesn’t happen the same as if I were to have a “real” job. There are no evaluations, promotions or pay raises; in fact much of what I do goes unnoticed…that is, until it doesn’t get done. But I do get to hear; “Mom, you’re the best” and “Mom, you look beautiful” (even when I’m still in my pj’s), prayers to God thanking Him for me, along with all the days of hanging out, watching, listening to and playing with my boys! Those moments of course, make it all worth while, but sometimes you need a little wisdom or encouragement and that’s where MomsMentoring comes in.

MomsMentoring has provided me with much needed encouragement and support – and Linda’s sincere desire to share her knowledge and experience has made a lasting impression in my life. Amidst piles of laundry and mounds of dishes, whiny kids and scattered toys, it’s easy to get discouraged. Linda has a way of offering encouragement in the form of a smile, kind words, advice and gentle nudges when a biblical change of heart is needed. She is kind and compassionate about helping moms of young children grow and thrive with biblical teaching. MomsMentoring takes place in a setting where you not only get wisdom and encouragement from Linda, but also from other moms in the group, which allows you to build friendships with other ladies in the group. I know that Linda’s knowledge has helped me in my walk as a Christian woman, wife and mom and I feel my entire family has benefited from her mentoring.

Sandy's story:

Linda’s outgoing, kind presence and her obvious passion for moms is just fabulous! My kids are 2, 4, 6 and 8, and I find it so easy to assume that the chaos or insecurity I sometimes experience must be unique to me. But the practical, encouraging support I receive at our Mom’s Mentoring gatherings really helps me to know that “no test or temptation that comes your way is beyond the course of what others have had to face. All you need to remember is that God will never let you down; he'll never let you be pushed past your limit; he'll always be there to help you come through it.” (1 Cor. 10:13, The Message).

Before my kids came along, I spent my time working with college-age women, helping them grow in their knowledge of who they are in Christ. I love to see someone’s faith move from the theoretical to the personal and to witness the life change that happens when that happens. The Mom’s Mentoring group is a perfect fit for me because we are all committed to seeing that same sort of change in our own lives and, as a result, in our children’s lives as well.
